Why did you choose graduate school at IU Indianapolis?
I chose IU Indianapolis for my graduate studies for two crucial reasons: it offers an accredited program in my field and provides an affordable cost of living. Beyond these practical considerations, I've found exceptional value in the mentorship from supportive professors who guide me through each step of my academic journey. This combination of factors confirms that IU Indianapolis is the right fit for my graduate education.
What has been your favorite academic accomplishment since you’ve been here?
I'm honored to have received the AHIMA Foundation scholarship, awarded to only six students nationwide. This achievement was made possible through my professor's steadfast support during the application process and their continued encouragement. Another significant milestone was representing the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering as a winner at the PFFP conference.
What do you enjoy most about life in Indianapolis?
I love how accessible downtown Indianapolis is, but what I cherish most is the quality time spent with the wonderful friends I've made here. These friendships have truly enriched my experience in the city.
Please provide some details about your work/research as a graduate student and/or any activities you are involved in.
My involvement spans both clinical and research domains. I volunteer at IU Health, working in the surgery waiting area and caring for patients at risk of delirium. My primary research focuses on integrating AI and robotics to assist dementia patients and their caregivers. I'm also collaborating with the gastroenterology and neurosurgery departments on two papers involving big data analysis which I aim to complete before graduation.
