IU Indianapolis Elite 50

Recognizing Your Achievements

The Division of Student Affairs, the IU Indianapolis Graduate Office, and Graduate and Professional Student Government are pleased to honor the 2025 IU Indianapolis Elite 50.

Each year, IU Indianapolis honors 50 graduate and professional students who demonstrate excellence beyond the classroom in areas such as campus leadership, scholarly work, and community engagement.

The Elite 50 represents the best of the best among IU Indianapolis graduate and professional students and captures everything that makes our campus exceptional.

Individuals who are positioned as the top 10 applicants receive the Premier 10 award. The Dr. Charles R. Bantz Award for Excellence is given to the top applicant of all Elite 50 candidates. The award is named after Chancellor Emeritus Charles R. Bantz in recognition of his service to the IU Indianapolis community and his commitment to graduate and professional students.

Who is eligible?

Currently enrolled graduate & professional students who are in good standing with the university and are in a degree-seeking graduate or professional program.

Applicants will be evaluated based upon their contributions while enrolled at IU Indianapolis as a graduate or professional student including efforts in; 1) community engagement and service; 2) campus engagement and service and 3) research and scholarly work.

A panel of faculty, staff, and students, including an ex officio representative of the campus administration, will participate in reviewing applications.

Requirements:

Online application showcasing community engagement, campus engagement, service, research and scholarly work.
Submission of one letter of recommendation attesting to the student’s leadership, scholarship, and community engagement activities by designated recommender.

Awards

From the 50 students selected for recognition as the Elite 50, the top students will be cited as the Premier 10. The overall award winner will receive the
Charles R. Bantz Award for Excellence and a $500 scholarship.

Important Dates

Winners will be announced by the end of February and will be honored at the IU Indianapolis Elite 50 Award Banquet.

December 15, 2024 - Nomination Deadline
January 15, 2025 – Application Deadline
January 22, 2025 – Recommendation Letter Deadline
April 7, 2025 – IU Indianapolis Elite 50 Award Banquet

Do you know a graduate or professional student who has demonstrated excellence inside and outside the classroom? A simple nomination will provide them with instructions to apply for the 2025 IU Indianapolis Elite 50. Students may also self-nominate.
